« L’Innovathon », an innovation fair of the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord’s schools, was held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at École secondaire catholique Algonquin. Over 400 visitors and students were in attendance to discover 28 booths moderated by students and staff. Community partners, such as The Labour Market Group and Yes Employment Services, hosted information booths. Visitors experienced an adrenaline rush at the Science North exhibit activities and during their fantastic interactive science show. A free delicious spaghetti supper was served by students participating in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) activities.

Among many other projects, attendees tested out Sphero balls, explored “Franco-Terre” www.franco-terre project initiatives such as new recycling and composting programs as well as deepened their knowledge regarding climate change, nutrition and gardening. Visitors observed elementary students showcase their robot programming skills, discovered how various apps are used in the classroom and learned about emerging teaching strategies such as inquiry-based learning. The innovation fair’s objective was to develop the student’s innovative mentality as well as global competencies, as the school board recognizes the importance of developing a highly skilled and resilient workforce capable of adapting to an evolving digital and global economy. “L’innovathon” highlighted numerous educational and humanitarian projects by our 11 elementary and 3 secondary schools, all of which presented innovative solutions to economic, social and environmental issues. CSCFN students demonstrated leadership, collaboration and innovation! Learn more about the innovation fair :
